An Argentinian Adventure!

Back in my happy place....travelling!

This time it's different though, meet my travel companion....

No, not Suri, I just like the photo, but my mum!

We set off from the British Airways business class lounge at Edinburgh airport; a few champagnes later and we arrived at London Heathrow. We had 3 hours to kill, so we looked around the crazy expensive designer shops and bought nothing! After an hour, we wandered along to B gates and the whispering Angel Lounge. A couple of Bottega rose wines later and it was time for boarding.

We made our way to the new BA business pods and settled in for the flight; 16.5 hours via Rio. First up, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina followed by Bridget Jones: Mad about the Boy and some semi-delicious food. The Champagne  was excellent, and the wine wasnt half bad! I especially like the self-service bar!

We touched down in Rio after almost 12 hours in the sky; we had to stay onboard and wait for the cleaning teams to finish and the new passengers to embark. After 2 hours, and then some weird repellent being sprayed about the cabin, we began the journey to Buenos Aires. I slept most of the way, apart from a brief stream of consciousness which allowed me to eat breakfast.

We landed at 10.35am BA time and made it through security (just!). Make sure you print out details of the hotel or wherever you are staying otherwise you will have a very grumpy immigration officer to deal with! We made it though, picked up our luggage and headed to the meeting place for our pre-booked taxi. BTW, if you want cash, come prepared as there are no ATMs available in the airport, and as we have now found out, its pretty impossible to even get cash! It hasnt been a problem yet as everywhere takes card, but we shall see!

The taxi ride to the hotel was smooth and our room was ready; all we wanted was a shower and wander! We unpacked, showered, went a wander, then made it back to the hotel for a beer! We decided to kill some time before the wine tasting at 4pm, so we sat in the bar before booking an uber to Palermo Hollywood, to a flat where the hosting was due to take place. The uber journey took 15 minutes where we were greeted by Bertie, Aby and Bonny (the dog!).

We expected a few folk, but it was just us! Bertie is an english sommelier, Aby an Argentinian chef and Bonny, a very chilled out so-called security dog.The wine tasting started with a Rose given the sun was out; it was a special additional one as we were the only ones at the tasting. We then had a white wine with a pairing of Humita, a traditional corn stew. The white was Torrontes, a grape found only in Argentina. This was followed by a Merlot from Patagonia with chorizo and Chipa (a cheese bread) and sweet red onions. The next pairing was another red, a Cabernet Sauvignon from Salta, with a beef empenada! Both were excellent. Last on the menu was a Malbec from Mendoza along with a chocolate truffle; the chocolate was bolivian, but it was a sweet way to end!

We said our goodbyes, and uber-ed it back to the hotel, where we promptly opened, then finished, one of the bottles we had purchased!

I`m sure you can guess whats next....night, night!
