Laos, here we come!

I’m not sure where the days have disappeared to but its now Wednesday 23rd January;  thankfully we have an afternoon flight to Luang Prabang, the second capital of Laos.

We get up around 9am and go to breakfast; its already 29 degrees outside and sweltering. The bus to the airport is not until noon so we still have time to re-pack some of our things and relax. The journey to the airport took a good 15 minutes; we had already checked in so just had to do a bag drop, clear security and immigration, all very simple. It took about 30 minutes before we headed to th Bill Bentley pub for a quick beer before boarding.

We were due to board at 14.25 and granted, we were 5 minutes after that and they were already on the final call; we weren’t last but not far off! Getting the last blog post out on the pub WiFi took a bit longer than I planned! A little minibus took us and 10 other passengers to the Bangkok Airways flight. We were given a visa form and landing card to fill out; that, plus the meal took the whole flight! We were in the air for about 90 minutes....

Luang Prabang has a tiny airport, but very efficient. On arrival, you queue at one window where someone will take your visa form and passport photo, you then walk around the cordon where you pay for the visa and pick up the passport with said visa complete; this process took around 2 minutes.  You then queue to hand in your landing card, another 2 minutes and our bag was then waiting for us on the other side....easy!

Lunch on the flight

We collected our luggage and headed out to meet our guide for the first part of the tour....
