The Unexpected Adventure....
September 17th/18th 2017

Hello...Sweden!
We should be home by now; instead we are in Stockholm. We were delayed in Tallinn which meant we missed our connecting flight in Stockholm..
When we landed, we had 10 minutes to catch our next flight. We headed to the departure gate but the flight was already gone. We then went to find the SAS service desk; the first one was unoccupied with a sign telling us to go to a desk beside gate 1. After passing through passport control twice and security once, we made it to the customer service desk. SAS had rebooked us on the 10.35 flight next morning but we had to speak to LOT Polish Airlines to get a hotel for the night. We went down one floor and found the LOT service desk; there were a few of the people from our Tallinn flight waiting for a hotel too. LOT booked us into the Radisson Blu Arlandia Airport Hotel for the night where we would get dinner and breakfast included; not so bad really....We asked where our cases were so we could change but they were being transferred to the "Luggage Hotel." So no clothes or toiletries....eek! I was given a "Female Overnight Kit" to se me through (see picture); the XL white t-shirt was my new nightdress!
We headed straight to dinner; unfortunately, alcohol was not included and it was about £8 a pint or a glass of wine, but needs must! Included was either a started and main or main course and dessert, that would do! After dinner we headed straight to the room as we were both knackered.
We awoke at 7.30am so we could get showered, go for breakfast and get the shuttle bus back to the airport. Breakfast was really good and pancakes with maple syrup were a welcome change. We then jumped on the bus to the airport. We were told to go to the self check-in but that didn't work so we were fast-tracked to one of the desks. Here we stood for 25 minutes while the woman phoned someone, then another person...it appears we were rebooked on the flight but our tickets hadn't been re-issued. Now I have no idea what that means, or what the difference is, but we were eventually re-issued the same ticket as the night before which apparently they are not supposed to do!
Happy Days, through to departures. I cleared security pretty quickly, Iain on the other hand, kept "beeping." He was patted down, scanned and then everything was swabbed; finally, we were free to go through. We headed through duty free, towards the gate (it was the same one that we ran to last night!), but first passport control. Nothing seems to be easy today....
I am now sitting at the gate waiting to board....next stop Edinburgh, right?
Special thanks to Ralph, Allan and Tom for being so understanding...we will be in work soon, we promise!
