Our One and Only Night in Phnom Penh
We only had one night in Phnom Penh so we decided we might as well go out and enjoy it!

As we checked in, we saw some people from the boat, turns out some of the group were there for a cooking class. We sat in the bar for a while, before I went for a Khmer massage, leaving Iain for an hour to entertain himself. The group from the boat actually made some extra food for Iain so he was invited to have spring rolls, red curry and some banana dessert with them; lucky for some, I was starving!

The restaurant was on an upper floor and looked out over the river; it was beautiful, the only downside was that the mosquitoes were big enough to see. I decided to have spring rolls and the fish amok, a very famous Cambodian fish curry. Both were lovely, but the heat was unreal. We were just a short walk from the night market so decided to have a look; two t-shirts for 5 bucks but I’m positive we were still totally ripped off....again. But I was happy.

We decided to go for one more drink, a cheap one at that, and get a tuk tuk back to the hotel; the guy was positive he knew where our hotel was but it turns out there were more than one with the same name! He was very apologetic and after a bit of trial and error, we eventually found the hotel! It was supposed to take 5 minutes, instead it took around 20 minutes but only cost us 4 bucks...we felt bad so gave him a tip!

This was our one and only night in Phnom Penh but we were getting up early so it was time to pack and also time for bed! We didn’t even manage to drink through our complimentary mini-bar...
Our hotel was a beautiful colonial hotel and we had an amazing suite; we got the usual rose petals and a marble bath filled with water and rose petals. We were also given two free massages so I was determined to have one during our stay.

After the massage, we headed out to a place called FCC (Foreign Correspondents Club); it was recommended by the guide so thought we would give it a try. It was about a 15 minute walk to the restaurant or a 5 minute tuk tuk; we decided to walk there and get a tuk tuk back. The walk took us through the beautiful gardens, everything was lit up and was beautiful. There were loads of people dancing and jogging; it was still over 30 degrees so I have no idea how they managed it!
