Our Last Day and a bit of Luxury
It's our last full day of the holiday so we decided to splash out on a 5 star hotel in Inverness; but first we needed to get there!
We had a longish lie before packing our bags and heading to crofters, the little place next door, to have some breakfast. It opened at 10am and we were the first to arrive, but it filled up quickly. A latte and pancakes with bacon and maple syrup was the order of the day. It was great apart from the low flying gulls, who were definitely aiming at us!
After breakfast, we decided to walk to Fairy Glen Falls; not another fairy visit I hear you say, but this one is a short walk and we needed to walk off the breakfast! It was a nice gentle walk, and there were two waterfalls which weren't too busy.
We wandered back to the village, jumped in the car and drove along to the golf club before walking along to Chanonry point to try and spot the dolphins. There was already a number of people waiting, laden down with binoculars and huge camera lenses.
Unfortunately, we didn't have too much time and didn't spot any so we headed to our next port of call, Groam House Museum. I has pre-booked which, in hindsight, was completely necessary as we didn't realise how small the museum was; it was only a room with an upstairs. The museum had an excellent display of early Christian stones of the 8th/9th centuries, plus it had the loveliest volunteer who told us all about the Picts, and the museum.
As it was so small, it only took us 45 minutes; we jumped in the car and headed towards Inverness and to Rocpool Reserve. It wasn't a long drive, made simpler by the Kessock Bridge crossing. We arrived at our five star accommodation and settled in before heading out to the Black Isle Brewery for a quick drink or two before dinner.
Dinner was good, and we were stuffed.
We also managed to plan out the journey home; I see another whisky tour on the horizon...
Ooh lovely!
